Massachusetts lawmakers have jumped on the nationwide trend of encouraging green, sustainable building by introducing a number of green building bills to the legislature this year.  In contrast to the last legislative session where only a handful of bills were on the table, this latest legislative session has seen the introduction of more than a dozen sustainable building related bills.

Highlights of the pending Massachusetts green building bills:

• Tax incentives to promote the use of sustainable building products and techniques

• State funding incentives for Massachusetts communities that build high performance schools

• The creation of a central information clearinghouse for the vetting and standardization of information on sustainable building products and methods

• Require the use of sustainable building products and techniques in all state owned buildings and facilities

Help get these bills passed.  Contact your local representative and ask them to support sustainable building in Massachusetts.
