Post by: borderz on November 05, 2007, 11:27:05 PM
What is the typical conversion efficiency for home-based solar power generation?

Solar energy is the only hope against the ever increasing price of petroleum pproducts.

I'm not sure, but I've heard that the technology available for converting Solar energy isnt very efficient till now. And it is much more expensive than using conventional non-renewable energy. Maybe someone else has some more updates on this topic? I'd be very interested.

Solar Energy is a Renewable Source but the conversion effeciency is very very low. Actually most of the solar energy stored is almost lost during conversion. Hence energy available for actual conversion is very low. So the effeciency is also very low around 6% and not more than that.
