Title: BIOFUEL

I would like to know your thoughts on biofuel or biodiesel as a means of sustainable fuel.

Given that there was that fella in germany that created it from something like 200 tires and 12 dead cats, and there is currently a plant in michagan working on the same thing, I would expect the Biofuel is sustainble so long as we have waste products including dead animals to process into it.

It will not be sustainable because the bio (plants, oils) are needed for other parts in life.
The plants are needed as food for animals, so it would be inhumane to use the oils of plants,
for driving, and energy means, instead of using the oils for cooking or other applications.

The world is dying because of lack of food, so that 'bio-energy' is like, look we even use food for driving. The key is solarpower, windenergy, and the energy in the sea (movements) = free energy

Biofuel is the answer of the environment related hazard that the world is facing today.

Yes, definitely. It is cheap, and easy to get. For once the United States is making an effort for the environment.

It is stupid to use the earth for growing biofuel, we need that space for growing crops, weath, mais, oranges, etc. Sure we can plant it full with biofuel plants, but what will we eat then ?

Bio fuel in general and ethanol in particular could be  the answer of the environment problems that the world is facing today.

Biomass can be a lucrative addition, not solution, in U.S. green energy development. One source of biomass I find efficient and commendable is plant waste. Examples are wood production waste (from paper and saw mills) and landscaping waste (such as grass, leaves, tree trimmings, dead shrubs, etc.) This form of biomass is cheap and available, and it gets used instead of being sent to the landfill.

Title: Stagecoach BioBus

Where I live (in the UK), the company Stagecoach has unveiled a fleet of buses running on biodiesel that has been recycled from used cooking oil.  Indeed the people who live on the bus routes are given containers to put their used oil into, to be taken to a recycling facility.  In return they get a discount on public transport.

While this may not be a total solution, I think it is quite a nice approach to the problem, after all the used cooking oil would most likely be thrown out anyway.

I refer you to this website if you wish to learn more about it - http://www.thebiobus.com/
