Title: Breakthrough in solar energy Post by: zeem on November 25, 2007, 08:44:03 AM A company called Nanosolar has created a solar film that does not require the use of costly silicon. This has brought the price of solar energy to 30 cents a watt which is cheaper than coal!
here is a really informative video: http://www.youtube.com/v/4riNlqZHCTQ&rel=1 and here is a link to an article about it http://www.celsias.com/2007/11/23/nanosolars-breakthrough-technology-solar-now-cheaper-than-coal/ Title: Re: Breakthrough in solar energy Post by: Praneel on November 25, 2007, 09:15:35 PM This technology helps a lot if the cost of production and installation is reduced to at least 1/4th. I don't agree with the reduction in the cost per kWh. That is just a stastical gimmick.
