How I wish people in my area of NY State were interested in not only green building, but gasp, building less! Every piece of land that has a meadow or a feild or a forest is being leveled and on top of it a housing development or storage facility, or strip mall is put up. It is very sad to see and there are more and more human vs. wildlife clashes everyday. Fighting sprawl should also be considered as an aspect of green building IMHO. What could be more environmentally friendly than NOT tearing up a nice patch of nature and putting a structure ("green" or not)on top of it?

I'd also like to know when green building is going to become affordable for all--via tax breaks, government subsidies, etc.  I don't understand why the government feels it's so smart to keep giving all of these huge, horrible building projects the green light and not help real consumers build sustainably.
