Title: Farmer's Markets Post by: PlasticTropicalFish on January 13, 2008, 07:38:47 PM Here in Northern California we have wonderful opportunity to go green by buying our produce locally from farmer's markets. This saves a lot of carbon pollution from having fruits and veggies trucked from Chile.
Title: Re: Farmer's Markets Post by: GrayLadyIce on January 15, 2008, 02:08:45 PM I agree. Farmer's markets are a good way to get some very healthy fresh food. Plus it's nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of chain supermarkets.
Title: Re: Farmer's Markets Post by: Celeste on January 15, 2008, 07:06:28 PM I agree, I have a friend who has a very large garden and sells her veggies at the farmer's market. There's nothing like the taste of fresh homegrown tomatoes. Plus farmers markets have more than just fresh foods. There's a wealth of knowlege in the sellers there.
Title: Re: Farmer's Markets Post by: nitane on January 20, 2008, 07:14:37 PM I love my local farmers market! Besides being better for the environment, I save money because the produce lasts sooo much longer! Although I know it is better to eat it fresh, I have had lettuce that kept well for 2 weeks!
I also like getting out and seeing the people in my town. I always see people I know, which makes me feel more connected to my community. nitanae http://adesignforliving.net/ Title: Re: Farmer's Markets Post by: Apples on January 24, 2008, 07:30:07 AM There is no doubt - farmers' markets are wonderful things, and, as a farmer who has sold produce at such markets, I can honestly say that farmer love sharing thier produce with the public. Farmers' markets help the environment, the customer, and the farmer!
Title: Re: Farmer's Markets Post by: ND on February 13, 2008, 06:05:54 PM I wish I could take more advantage of farmer's market...during the winter months it is a lot harder to find it locally. Does anyone have any tips or website for finding farmer's market in different local areas?
Title: Re: Farmer's Markets Post by: www.riel-money.co.nr on February 16, 2008, 03:19:01 PM Farmer's Market is also quite cheap then the regular supermarket. But living in the city and all, its kind of hard to find access to these markets.
