I have been using reusable shopping bags for 15 years now and I'm so happy to see more and more people at the store doing the same.  I am still using many of the same canvas bags I started with 15 years ago!

I remember the box-people used to call me "the bag lady."  But now it has become so common place that no-one bats an eye at it now.

Once you get used to using them it's really hard to go back to plastic or paper.  (I hate when I forget them.) They are so sturdy and make carrying in the groceries so much easier.

Just one of those little things that make a difference.

Yes it does-wish companies would have a marketing blitz and give tons away...also, so common so long in Europe...unfortunately I see European grocers and drug stores now having plastic disposable bags...so sad, so ironic.

I am happy to see more and more grocers offering  reusable canvas shopping bags, too.  I heard from someone who used to work at Whole Foods that often times those plastic shopping bags collected at the recycle bins found at Whole Foods Stores goes directly to dumpster.  Shocking, isn't it? At least by reusing the canvas shopping bag, we are in charge of minimizing the waste and making sure that the bags are being reused! 

My daughter lives in France, a very green nation.  They do not have bags, paper or plastic at their stores.  In fact, they are not allowed.  Reusuable bags are the only way to cart your groceries home.  I brought several back with me after a visit and I love them!! Durable, useful for all types of things.  My simple contributaion to Paper or Plastic is now Neither!
