I have recently seen a building which had grass on the roof. I assume this is to save energy or something? Can someone please explain to me why there might of been grass on the roof?

How do hybrid cars work? Are they a good way of having a car that uses renewable energy?

Hi, I live in an area suffering a drought and as a result am interested in gray water recycling information. If you have any links, experience, or stories to share I's love to hear them.
Thanks, |

Hello, I live in North Carolina in the Raleigh/Durham area. We are currently in a severe drought and I am interested in gray water implementations. Does anyone here have experience with this issue?
Thanks! |

I have been using reusable shopping bags for 15 years now and I'm so happy to see more and more people at the store doing the same. I am still using many of the same canvas bags I started with 15 years ago!
I remember the box-people used to call me "the bag lady." But now it has become so common place that no-one bats an eye at it now. Once you get used to using them it's really hard to go back to plastic or paper. (I hate when I forget them.) They are so sturdy and make carrying in the groceries so much easier. Just one of those little things that make a difference. nitanae http://adesignforliving.net/ |

I just came across a piece of reading stating that solar collector panels on especially the lower levels of a building are attractive sites for graffiti or other artwork by vandals and such. It is something to consider when designing where or how to place your solar collector panels.

What about in cold weather? My compost been hasn't seemed to do much for a few months. Our temps here range from in the 20's to 60's F.
Will it pick up again when the weather warms up? I was really looking forward to having compost for my spring garden. Also, I used to vermi compost and loved that, but now I live with the guilt of haven forgotten to bring my worms in one hot spring day. ![]() nitanae http://adesignforliving.net/ |

I love my local farmers market! Besides being better for the environment, I save money because the produce lasts sooo much longer! Although I know it is better to eat it fresh, I have had lettuce that kept well for 2 weeks!
I also like getting out and seeing the people in my town. I always see people I know, which makes me feel more connected to my community. nitanae http://adesignforliving.net/ |

This a great idea for older toilets, but what about new water saving toilets? I have thought of trying this but have wondered if it would still work.
Has anyone tried it on a newer toilet? Did it still work well? nitanae http://adesignforliving.net/ |
