Article: Extreme Makover Home Edition Goes Green

Not big fans of the show, but will give them the benefit of the doubt on this one - be sure to check it out Sunday.

I am also not a big fan of the show, to much waste an hoopla, even though it has a good premise, helping people in need.

On Greening the show?  Huh I saw fluff and gingerbread only on the Yazzi family (Navajo reservation) last night. yes the solar & wind is green(and sexy), but what is missing and what they never even talked about was "Energy Efficiency" and building the house so that it wouldn't need as much energy to operate.

I only build with Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) and using them on a house like this would make a world of difference in energy consumption.

I continue to wait for the "EE" to get into Gr  n building like it should be. If you are not building a truely energy efficient home or building, then the rest is nice and pretty, but it's just fluff!

Couldn't agree with you more.  Regarding last night's episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, I think they canceled or postponed the regularly scheduled green episode due to the World Series - I need to confirm though.  We didn't even watch it once we figured out it wasn't the same episode as advertised.

I know the show has a good premise, and it almost makes me feel like a bad person for not liking it, but for some reason the whole thing just comes off as insincere to me.  May just be the over the top host.

Anyway - going to look into what happened to the Chapin family episode and post the new broadcast date here.

Welcome to Informed Building by the way - we'd love to hear more about your work with SIP's.
