Living in Southern California, I enjoy the days of never-ending sunshine.  Californians are so image conscious however, that many communities actually ban solar panels because they are... too ugly.  Strange for cities that used to be so smoggy that you couldn't even see the panels if you looked for them.

When will State governments and or the Feds start making it _mandatory_ to build solar panels into houses in areas like So-Cal.  It is nice to give tax credits to encourage this type of construction, but why not put it into law?

I would agree that mandating the use of solar power in all new homes may not be a good idea. I do believe that anyone who chooses to install,l solar power should be able to do so. Thus Zoning Boards who think that solar panels are ugly should not be allowed to stop, a person with some concern for the environment from doing their part to help improve it.
