I was wondering if anyone had info regarding the use of Eco-Block (Insulated Concrete Form)? I've read most of eco-block.com, but they're trying to sell it basically. I need real life stories. Is it more/less expensive than other green materials? Difficult to work with? Does it live up to the claims? Is it better/worse for the environment?

Any info would help. Thanks so much!

Not familiar with Ecoblock and where you are at, but up here in Oregon there is an ICF product made locally in Philomath, Oregon called Faswall made by Shelterworks, Ltd (www.faswall.com). It is about the most sustainable ICF form made that I know of. Invented in Switzerland after WWII to use up the mountains of rubble wood material. It is better than most other ICF products in that it has an insulation insert in the cells, which effectively isolates thermal mass of the conrete into the interior of the home for temperature moderation, whereas other ICF products often completely isolate the concrete between two layers of insulation so you don't get the significant 'battery effect' of thermal mass. Check out our new home installation in Brush Prairie, WA on our blog, http://thehabitatgroup.blogspot.com . Good luck in your search and eventual project and take care.
