Having lived in El Paso for a few years, i can thoughtfully say that your beautiful adobe home should fair quite well in the desert heat. The thickness of the stone you are using will absorb and dissipate the heat much as the earth itself does. Not convinced? Just go into the desert and dig down a few inches and you will notice a remarkable drop in temperature of the soil.
