Energy efficient products and practices can help us save money.  ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy.

Most energy/electricity suppliers will offer a discount, in some cases up to 5% for energy star compliant dwellings. They will also offer low rate loans to homeowners willing to upgrade furnaces and appliances.

To be Energy Star qualified you have to do some home improvement on an existing home or have a smart design when building a new one.
Home improvement: use energy star qualified products for home appliances, electronic equipment, etc., air seal and insulate with energy star approved/qualified products.
